Strategic growth and client loyalty in construction and maintenance

Bryan Antoncic, the founder and president of LuMa Construction and LP Maintenance, has built two thriving companies through his extensive corporate experience and deep understanding of business operations.

LP Maintenance, a janitorial maintenance and restoration business, has quickly become one of the fastest-growing private companies offering facilities management in the Northeast.

LuMa Construction, a licensed home improvement contractor, is renowned for its comprehensive services and quality craftsmanship. Both companies are owner-operated and have developed a robust client list throughout New York and New Jersey, servicing over one million square feet of commercial real estate and multiple $5 million or more estates with a skilled staff of over 100 employees. Antoncic’s strategic vision and dedication have created businesses that exceed client expectations.

“I believe true success comes from building strong relationships, delivering exceptional service, and always putting people first. By fostering genuine connections and focusing on the needs of our clients and team, we create a foundation of trust and excellence that drives our success and makes a lasting impact,” Antoncic says.

Enhancing urban spaces

Currently, Antoncic and his team are engaged in several notable projects. One of the most significant is the large-scale redevelopment of an adjacent property for the Little League organization in Oneonta, NY. This project involves extensive planning, design and construction to create a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as a hub for youth baseball.

Antoncic’s team is also in the early stages of collaborating with landlords in Manhattan to renovate newly acquired or soon-to-be-acquired buildings. These renovations focus on upgrading apartments, improving common spaces, and enhancing amenity areas to meet the demands of a competitive real estate market. The paperwork, budgeting, design, and permitting are managed remotely, while the construction phase will see the team present on-site several times a week to ensure everything runs smoothly.

“Our projects are about more than just construction; they are about building communities and creating lasting relationships,” Antoncic says.

Under Antoncic’s leadership, LP Maintenance and LuMa Construction have cultivated strong client relationships, ensuring loyalty and satisfaction. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining these partnerships, which have been instrumental in the companies’ growth.

Antoncic’s approach to leadership is rooted in his belief that his businesses are nothing without their employees. He acknowledges the challenges his team faces, from language barriers to the technical complexities of their work and is committed to supporting them through it all. He shows appreciation through financial rewards, recognition and team-building activities like barbecues, fishing trips and social gatherings, fostering a sense of camaraderie and motivation among his staff.

“We’re nothing without the people we work with,” he adds.

Investing in employee growth and satisfaction

Antoncic’s focus on recruiting and retention is a cornerstone of his success. He believes in hiring skilled individuals who align with the company’s values and culture. By providing a supportive and engaging work environment, he ensures that his employees are dedicated and passionate. This commitment to his team extends to offering competitive compensation, opportunities for professional growth and a supportive workplace culture that values every employee’s contribution.

“Success starts with hiring the right people and creating a supportive environment where they can thrive. By aligning their skills and values with the company’s goals and fostering a culture that values growth and collaboration, we build a foundation for exceptional performance and long-term success,” Antoncic explains.

As Antoncic looks to the future, he remains dedicated to scaling his businesses while maintaining the high standards that have earned them their reputation. He is constantly thinking about the company’s future, considering strategies for growth, and exploring opportunities to expand its services. Despite the challenges, Antoncic’s passion for his work and his team’s dedication drives him to continue building on the success of his companies.

Through Antoncic’s efforts, he has created successful businesses and positively impacted the lives of his employees, clients and partners. As he continues to lead with a focus on excellence and client satisfaction, Antoncic’s legacy of success and innovation in the construction and maintenance industries is set to grow even further.

Running his own show

Antoncic’s journey showcases his dedication, vision and adaptability. With a solid academic foundation in real estate, operations management, and business management from Johnson & Wales University, Antoncic began as an assistant project manager with the Cappelli Organization, working on high-rise luxury residential properties throughout Westchester County. He then managed Class A commercial office space for Tishman Speyer, which later developed into a position with the NBCUniversal Facility Operations Team at 30 Rockefeller Plaza and later oversaw the development of the Ritz-Carlton Residences on Long Island as a project manager.

Returning to NBCUniversal, Antoncic excelled as the director of facility operations and construction at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. He then joined UA Builders Group as the managing director of design and construction, leading high-profile projects and driving company growth within its ground-up development business model.

In January 2018, Antoncic became the chief operating officer at LP Maintenance, a venture that began as a weekend handyman side hustle to support his family. His dedication turned it into a full-fledged business, quickly scaling to 24 employees and $2 million in revenue. Despite an offer to remain as a consultant, Antoncic chose to pursue his entrepreneurial path fully.

In March 2022, he founded LuMa Construction, named after his sons, Lucas and Mason, and LP Maintenance, named after Lucas. This move solidified his commitment to family and professional vision. Today, as the president of LuMa Construction and COO of LP Maintenance, Antoncic continues to lead and inspire, building a legacy of success in the construction and maintenance industries, which one day he hopes he could leave to his sons to take over the family business.
